So, you are not happy with the default 30-frame cross-dissolve video
transition? Well, I must confess, I don't like it either. My personal
default transition is a 20-frame cross-dissolve.
Here's how to change it:

- Click the Effects tab in the Browser

- Twirl down Video Transitions
- Find the transition you want to make the default.

- If you want to change the length, double-click the numbers in
the length column, then change them to what you want
- Select the transition you want to make the default
- Select Effects > Video Transitions > Set Default

- The underline indicates that transition is now your default
transition.
