The DR Group and Larry Jordan hold first 24-Frame Editing Workflow
Roundtable
24 Frame Workflow Seminar
LOS ANGELES, California, March 22, 2006 -- The DR Group and Larry Jordan
presented the first in a series of evenings devoted
to solving 24 fps questions. During this 3 hour session,
editors learned specific workflow techniques, the
benefits and pitfalls of shooting and editing 24 fps projects,
how the output format alters the editing process, and the importance
of understanding pulldown and cadence.
"One of the major concerns discussed in my classes and seminars
is the degree of misinformation on how to work with
24-frame material," said Larry Jordan, president of Larry Jordan
& Associates, Inc. and Roundtable moderator. "Especially when
an editor is working with 24-frame material at the professional
level, getting access to accurate information can make the
difference between success and failure. These roundtables are
not sales pitches. They are specifically focused on providing
real-world examples and techniques that can be used by a Final
Cut Pro editor to succesfully edit a 24-frame project."
The event was hosted at the DR Group's new sales and production facility
in Culver City and featured presentations from Lowell Kay,
president of the DR Group, Jon Thorne, Macintosh product manager
for AJA, Inc., and Nathan Adams, sales manager for the DR Group.
"We were delighted with the turnout and the enthusiasm of the group,"
said Lowell Kay, president of the DR Group. "Based on everyone's
comments we have decided to split these roundtables into two
categories: one for people just getting started with 24-frame
editing and a second, advanced, session for editors working
with higher-end formats like Digital Intermediate, Varicam,
D5, and HDCam SR.
This event marks the beginning of a series of monthly gatherings that
will be offered through the DR Group and Larry Jordan & Associates
focused on the editor of 24-frame projects:
- Introduction to 24-frame editing workflows is scheduled for: May 3,
June 7, and July 5.
- The next advanced 24-frame editing workflows is scheduled for May
17, and features a discussion on successful 24-frame editing
for the feature film editor.
Each meeting provides professional
editors with the opportunity to investigate the implications
and practicalities of new techologies in their industry.
